Bogotá hosts World Travel Awards
Colombia?s capital has been chosen as the official site for the 22nd edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA) Latin America 2015. The so ? called ?Oscars? of the tourism industry serve to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. The ceremony will take place on October 10th at Bogotá?s Teatro Colón and the Colegio Mayor San Bartolomé.
Aside from hosting this special event, Bogotá has also been nominated in several categories such as: regional leading airport, leading adventure tourism destination, leading beach destination, among a few others. In the past the city was declared by the Unesco as ?World Book Capital? and by the international ? non ? governmental organization, The Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities (UCCI), as the ?Ibero-American Capital for Culture?. In addition, it has been ranked as the region?s # 5 best city to do business by the publication: AméricaEconomía among 52 other major cities.
The World Travel Awards have a television audience of 300 million people across 200 countries aside from hundreds of thousands of other print and digital readers whom are reached each month through an extensive network of global media partners like The New York Times, CNBC, or TV5Monde.
