Bogotá: a gourmet capital

Colombia?s capital is preparing to host the 13th edition of the most important food festival, Alimentarte. This year over a hundred restaurants will be participating in the traditional food bazar at Parque El Virrey, just across the street from Blue Door?s hotel, Jazz Apartments. The festival will be divided in two different events. The first weekend (August 15th through the 17th) restaurants will be featuring dishes from around the world under the slogan ?Mundo con Boca? and with Spain as the guest of honor. Meanwhile, during the second weekend of August 22nd, the theme will be ?Colombia si Sabe? ? a two ? day tribute to Colombia?s cuisine.

Alimentarte is organized by the non profit foundation, ?Corazón Verde,? which this time, along with the Colombian economic journal, Portafolio, will be sponsoring an academic forum about ?haute? cuisine. The international invited panelists and chefs for this lecture are: Andoni Luis Aduriz (Spain), Gastón Acurio (Perú), Diego Guerrero (Spain), Roy Cáceres (Italy) and Jesús Sánchez (Spain). The forum will be moderated by the editor of Bocas Magazine, Mauricio Silva, and its intended to also demonstrate how is Colombia?s gastronomy in comparison to other nations. The event will take place on Wednesday 19that 9:00 a.m. in Colsubsio.

But, for those who love exquisite gourmet food and dining out, Alimentarte is bringing 16 of the world?s most recognized chefs this year.
