Bogotá: cultural capital of the world

Bogotá: cultural capital of the world

Everyday Bogotá has more cultural plans to offer its visitors and residents. This week the city will be hosting the first edition of the Bogotá International Film Festival (Biff). During seven days more than fifty films will be showcased at this event in which fifteen different movie producers, directors, editors and scriptwriters from all over the world will be participating. This new project aims to place Bogotá at the top of the list of world cities, which currently host important movie festivals.

Biif will bring in unique films that very few times make it to the movie theaters. The festival will be screening the new tendencies in the industry from young producers. “We want to talk in a different language here. We have dedicated a lot of time at selecting specific content that new – young generations want to see in theaters. They want their lives reflected in the screen; they want to see their religious beliefs and even sexual identities in the big TV”, says Andrés Bayona, Biif’s founder and director.

The festival’s premiere night will take place this Thursday, October 8th and will feature the screening of the most recent film by the Argentinian director, Pablo Trapero, “El Clan”. In it Trapero tells the story of a very distinguished family in Argentina which engaged in criminal activities during the 70’s. Trapero won a Silver Lion for this film at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival.

Among the participants at Biif are: the Swedish director, Magnus von Horn, with his movie “The Here After”, the Uruguayan editor of “El Apóstata”, Gonzalo Delgado and the Argentinian producer, Juan Schnitman who will be showing his first feature film, “El Incendio”.

Discover Colombia: “The Only Risk is Wanting to Stay”

Recently Colombia has been featured by several world-renowned publications as one of the most attractive touristic destinations. The country also has become the focus of attention for all types of foreign investment and business transactions. Its economy is, currently, one of the strongest in the region, growing at a fast and stable pace of 3 to 5% yearly.

This booming scenario has had a positive impact in the tourism industry. The number of foreign visitors has risen exponentially and the hotel industry has benefited from millionaire new investments.

The nation has numerous new sites to discover and everyday these become more popular. Vacationing in Colombia is also very affordable for tourists all over the world. The exchange rate of the Colombian peso versus other currencies like the American dollar or Euro, results very convenient. For a very reasonable price people can go shopping, dine at fancy restaurants, visit cultural places, and engage in other entertaining activities, otherwise more expensive at cities like Paris or Rome.

There are also a number of special touristic deals available that include a complete tour throughout the country (Coffee Region, Medellín, the Caribbean Coast) for an excellent starting price of 500USD; the same amount of money someone will pay for only one hotel night in New York City, for instance.

If you are willing to unravel your adventurous spirit and visit this beautiful South American country, rich in culture, biodiversity, history, offering the best coffee in the world and many natural landscapes, we cordially invite you to stay at our boutique hotels by Blue Doors. We ensure you will have an incredible experience at our apartment- style and furnished suites.

Why invest in Colombia’s hotel industry?

Why invest in Colombia’s hotel industry?

Colombia’s economy is one of the strongest in the region growing at a fast and stable pace of 4 to 5% yearly. The country has, thus, become an excellent destination for all types of foreign investment and business transactions.

Over ten years of continued economic growth, an independent Central Bank, a positive international image, great advancements in infrastructure and security, social development, and a coherent and stable fiscal policy are just a few reasons why Colombia has managed to catch the attention of international investors.

According to ProColombia, the national entity in charge of promoting tourism, imports and exports, between January and September of 2014 foreign inversions in Colombia reached a total of $11.840 million dollars.

Corporate sales and merges have also increased significantly. In 2014 the country registered a total of 204 business transactions representing $2.480 million dollars.

The tourism industry has witnessed the fruits of this booming scenario. The number of foreign visitors has risen exponentially and the hotel industry has benefited from millionaire new investments. For instance, both, national and international hotel chains, have injected over a billion Colombian pesos in the last decade, according to the Colombian Hotels and Tourism Association, Cotelco. Other tax measures like an exemption of the income tax for all hotel operators before December 31st, 2017 have contributed to the growth of this sector. Over 27 thousand new hotel rooms have been added in the last 11 years.

Currently the cities that attract the most foreign investment are Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena and Barranquilla.

For your future extended business stays our hotel boutique chain, Blue Doors, offers the best and most comfortable suites in Bogotá. Our five star hotels are strategically located just few minutes away from the financial area. We will soon be opening a 26 - story building with a 110 suites in Medellín.
